This weekend the 49th Engadin Skimarathon took place under optimal conditions. Over 13,000 people - from athletes to beginners - participated. The winner was once again Dario Cologna. As a main sponsor of the Skimarathon, Odlo looks back on a successful sporting event.

The Engadin Skimarathon (42 km) and the Half Marathon (21 km) led through the beautiful scenery in the Engadin. Like every year, the "Engadiner" attracted thousands of people with over 13,200 registrations. During the bright sunny day, the well-prepared cross-country ski trail was the stage of a demanding yet high-spirited competition. Lots of participants started with the motto "taking part is everything", the last competitors ended the race after over six hours. Some participants even dressed up as Mexicans or unicorns. A competition with a unique atmosphere that is not unlike a folk festival!

Besides being the most well-known sporting event in Switzerland, the Engadin Skimarathon is also a beloved meeting point for the world's cross-country elite. Odlo's ambassador Dario Cologna won the legendary race for the third time after 2007 and 2010. Silver goes to Anders Gløersen (Norway) and bronze to Ilja Tschernoussow (Russia). For women, the fastest competitor was Mari Eide (Norway). She ranked just before the Swiss Rahel Imoberdorf and the American Caitlin Gregg. Due to pole breaks and falls, the race definitely requires a certain amount of luck: last year's winner Roman Furger unfortunately fell one kilometer before the finish line and ended the race as 28th this year.

As one of the main sponsors of the event, Odlo Switzerland was on-site with a sales booth and equipped volunteers. The Swiss competition with international exposure was an ideal showcase of our brand in the field of performance winter sportswear.
