Odlo has established a new partnership with myclimate, a Swiss non-profit organization dedicated to climate protection. In Fall/Winter 2017, Odlo will support the “Community Reforestation” project with 1% of the turnover generated from their latest active cooling technology - CERAMICOOL.
Sustainability and social responsibility have been at the heart of Odlo's corporate culture since it was founded 71 years ago. As a member of the Fair Wear Foundation with leader status, Odlo takes its social and environmental responsibilities seriously and wants future generations to enjoy sporting activities in a beautiful and natural environment. The natural next step in this effort is Odlo’s partnership with myclimate.
myclimate is an experienced Swiss non-profit organization that promotes climate protection projects of the highest quality and long-lasting development worldwide. Odlo and myclimate want to shape the future through consultation, education, and carbon offset projects. Odlo’s Brand Director Timo Pape said, “Odlo is proud to partner with myclimate as they support climate compensation projects with a direct impact.” myclimate’s CEO René Estermann commenting on the new cooperation, “myclimate highly appreciates its partnership with Odlo. It is a good example of commitment in favor of climate protection: traceable, fully integrated and effective.”
By committing to reducing the same quantity of CO2 emissions generated from CERAMICOOL production through engagement in the “Community Reforestation” climate protection project, Odlo’s CERAMICOOL articles can be labeled as climate-neutral.The “Community Reforestation” project helps smaller farming families in Nicaragua collaborate to reforest underutilized portions of their land. Thanks to better land-use management and more sustainable use of forest resources, the forest cover of the nearby watershed will be increased and the quality of life of the residents will be improved.
Odlo successfully launched its active cooling innovation CERAMICOOL in spring/summer 2017, available in t-shirts, singlets and boxers. For fall/winter, the baselayer line comes along in fresh designs and expands with long-sleeved shirts and pants. The range’s higlights are the CERAMICOOL pro Shirt and Pants for men and women. Tests have shown that CERAMICOOL cools the skin up to 1 degree Celsius. The active cooling technology works on three levels: First, the ceramic particles in the yarn have the ability to release warmth quickly and thus transmit excessive heat away from the skin. Second, the flat cross section structure creates tiny channels in the yarn which enable streams of warm air to flow away. Third, the low bulk yarn used leads to a light-weight material that creates ultimate breathability and ventilation. These three factors combined keep you cool during sport activities even on the hottest days. You can find more information about the technology here.
