Last weekend, the first World Cup race of this MTB season took place in Cairns, AUS. Nino Schurter (SUI), Jenny Rissveds (SWE) and Michiel Van Der Heijden (NED) represented the Scott Odlo team at the event.
A difficult trail couldn't stop Nino from winning by three seconds from Maxime Marotte of France, marking the 18th World Cup victory of Nino's career.
The race in Cairns had been the first World Cup elite race for Jenny and it couldn’t have started much worse as she lost a lot of time early after being involved in a crash. But she showed great resolve to fight back and raced from 40th to 9th. A superb performance that surely would have seen her finish on the podium had her race been incident free.
Michiel performed very well to secure 21st after starting 40th, gaining a fantastic 19 places along the trail.
These great results show the good shape of the Scott Odlo team. Hopefully they will perform just as strong in two weeks time at the European Championships in Sweden. We will keep our fingers crossed!
