In front of 15,000 spectators the fourth UCI Mountainbike World Cup took place in Albstadt (Germany). As expected the race became a great show between Nino Schurter and Julien Absalon from France. They were equally strong on the uphills and downhills but finally Nino triumphed with a spectacular sprint to win the race. It is his 19th World Cup victory. For Jenny Rissveds it was only the second start in an Elite World Cup competition and it was a perfect race. Although an early crash at high speed knocked her out of the top ten she showed her class and moved all the way up to second place. Only World Cup leader Annika Langvad from Denmark could not be caught. With this great race Jenny gets one step closer to a participation at the Olympics in Rio this year. Andri Frischknecht started in the U23 race and showed a strong performance too. In the final he made it from 13th up to 8th place and showed that he is back after his injury and able to fight until the very end. Unfortunately, Michiel van der Heijden is dealing with some back-issues so he finished in 53rd place. Marcel Wildhaber started out in 130th position, put a high effort into his performance and ended in 86th place. Congratulations on these great performances! The next World Cup will take place in La Bresse, France. We keep our fingers crossed!
